Not Even A Whiff.

Trouble comes in many forms and most times unexpectedly. Accident, death, illness, bankruptcy, abandonment, redundancy or even just the car running out of fuel at the most untimely moment.

Even the smallest of unforeseen problems can invoke a reaction of anxiety or despair as we try to adjust to the situation. Some, thankfully, can be dealt with quite easily given a little time and some solid friends.

But what about those times when even the companionship of those who love us can’t supply the deep comfort we need? Who, then, do we turn to when even the most reliable shoulder of solace can no longer sustain us in our ordeal?

In the Book of Daniel we find Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego have been put in the furnace by the king to burn, not just simply thrown in, but bound up with all their clothes on and then some extra.

When King Nebuchadnezzar looked into the furnace he saw four people. The three who had been bound were now loose and walking in the fire and God was with them protecting them. When they came out there wasn’t as much as a smell of smoke on them.

Don’t be bound by despair. Don’t let the extra weight of hopelessness constrain you. Ask God for his help today and believe that he will walk through the fire of adversity with you. His peace, love, comfort, and protection will bring you out of the furnace with no scarring, mental or physical, to evidence that you had ever been there.
